Painting glass canvas

Glass canvas is one of the types of reinforcing materials widely used in finishing works. The purpose of these materials is to ensure reliable adhesion of the finishing material (plaster or construction mixture) to the surface of the wall or ceiling, especially in the places of construction joints and corners, to prevent sliding of the solution or mixture, the formation of cracks during drying and shrinkage, to increase the mechanical strength of the applied coating.

Construction grids of different material types and sizes are used for various stages of work.

The purpose of metal grids with a large cell is the starting layer for masonry or plastering works.

Plastic nets with mesh from 10 to 50 mm are widely used in all types of plastering and finishing works, when leveling walls, especially from foam and polystyrene panels.

The field of application of fiberglass meshes is similar to plastic meshes, but they have at the same time greater mechanical strength and at the same time flexibility, resistance to aggressive media, lower density and minimum cell size, which makes them more preferable for finishing and finishing, alignment of joints and even in the form finishing layer for painting.

The fiberglass mesh used for the final finish is produced under the name painting or putty fiberglass, better known among masters as a cobweb.

Quartz sand is used as a material for the manufacture of fiberglass and its products. Construction nets are made by the method of hot pressing, as a result of which it is possible to obtain translucent fiberglass with a cell of 2 to 3 mm, density and texture comparable to woven materials, which makes it possible to use it for finishing not only smooth, but also complex areas of surfaces - corners, height differences, curvilinear and radial transitions. After gluing or covering with a finishing material, this fabric turns into a hard and durable reinforcing mesh that can withstand serious mechanical loads.

The starting material - quartz - determines many operational characteristics of fiberglass - non-flammability, antistatic, hypoallergenic and non-hygroscopic. At the same time, when working with it, it is necessary to observe some safety measures to protect the skin and respiratory organs from the smallest sharp particles formed during cutting and processing.
