For many years, Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro have competed with each other for the sports achievements of the cities. After the addition of Kamensky (former Dneprodzerzhinsk) to this duo, there were three cities competing for leadership in this area in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Today, Kamensky has a well-developed sports infrastructure, and the achievements of local athletes are much higher than their rivals from Dnipro. Numerous news items speak of this:

The team will continue cooperation with local veterans Vitaly Malchevsky and Andrey Kulish, Dnipro basketball players Sergey Zagreba and Alexander Mesiat.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi recently visited the regional center and met with Valery Kondratiev, head of BC Dnipro. According to their mutual opinion, the city should have its own multi-thousand sports palace.
Today, the Ice Palace "Meteor" is in a dilapidated state. In the near future, it should become communal property, then it will undergo a major overhaul. After the opening of the new sports complex, basketball matches and concerts will be held there.
The dimensions of the Shinnyk Sports Palace are smaller than those of Meteora, but the local authorities decided to support the management of the basketball club "Dnipro" and carry out major repairs in it within three months.
