What are springless mattresses made of?
Modern springless mattresses are made from several layers of different materials, achieving the best indicators of strength, elasticity and air permeability. Most often used: coconut filler, latex, horse hair, holofiber, foam, mixed fillers. Let's consider the main ones in more detail:
1. Coconut coir. Excellent natural material from coconut fiber. It has good hygienic characteristics: it is well ventilated, environmentally friendly, increases the firmness and orthopedic properties of the mattress. The coir layer in the product may be untreated, and over time it will begin to crumble and fade. To increase the service life, the needle-punched coir is glued with special glue and stitched with threads. In this way, the layer becomes harder, but over time, the stitched coir still begins to crumble and deform. Latex coir is considered to be of the highest quality. The addition of latex makes the fibers elastic, resistant to deformation, and the mattress, accordingly, more expensive.
2. Bi-coconut. To obtain it, coconut fibers are mixed with holofiber. The resulting material in its properties is not inferior to latex coir.
3. Latex. Mattresses mainly use a synthetic analogue of latex - polyurethane foam. It has excellent operational qualities and is somewhat cheaper than natural material.
4. Gel. This material has the most pronounced orthopedic properties. It can be used in pressure ulcer models for bedridden patients.
