On January 13, 1960, a girl was born in the family of a scientist-mathematician in the city of Bugulma. Perhaps it was the father's genes that manifested themselves in the daughter: by the age of three she was writing and reading. The family, despite the Soviet times, was religious, which would later affect the direction of Olga Yuryevna's work. She received three higher educations: musical in the specialty of choir conductor, historical humanitarian and diplomatic in the specialty of international relations.
The topic for the candidate's thesis for the end of the 80s was more than unusual: "The Soviet state and the activity of the Orthodox Church during the Second World War." In 1943, Vasilieva defended her doctoral dissertation in continuation of the candidate's topic "ROC in the modern state in 1948-1998" and became a doctor of historical sciences.
Olga Vasilieva's further work was firmly connected with the church and history. In ten years, she rose to the position of head of the Center for the History of Religion and the Church at the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2002, Olha Yuryevna took the post of head of the department of state-confessional relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences. During her activity, she created more than two hundred and forty scientific works.
Since October 2012, Olga Vasilyeva has been successfully working in the Presidential Administration. First, as deputy head of the Department of Public Projects. She was involved in the creation of standards for teaching history in schools, worked on a course on the history of Russia, and gave lectures to fellow party members. In 2014, she became a state adviser of the II class.
On August 19, 2016, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin appointed Olga Yuryevna Vasilyeva as the Minister of Education. Later, when the department was divided, Olga Yuryevna became the Minister of Education. It oversees general and special education.
