The occupiers also complain about the attack on the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant (NLMK). This was reported on March 9 by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, Defense Forces officer Andriy Kovalenko.
According to him, NLMK is one of the largest metallurgical enterprises in the Russian Federation. The plant plays an important role in Russia in providing the industrial complex, including the defense sector.
“Its products are of strategic importance to the Russian army for several key reasons: Steel and rolled products production — NLMK produces a wide range of metal products used in military equipment, armored vehicles, and shipbuilding.
Supply of metal for the defense industry - NLMK metal is used in the production of armored vehicles, in particular combat vehicle hulls, as well as in aircraft construction and the missile industry.
Role in shipbuilding - Russian warships and submarines are built using steel supplied by the Novolipetsk Combine.
Repair and modernization of military equipment - NLMK metal is used to repair and upgrade armored vehicles.
"NLMK is included in the list of strategic enterprises of the Russian Federation, and its activities are closely linked to the economic and military components of the Kremlin," Andriy Kovalenko noted.
