The iconic Nissan GT-R sports car is being discontinued. The company stopped taking orders for the model on February 28, which means the last one will roll off the assembly line soon.

Nissan's sports coupe first hit the market in 2007 and has undergone a number of upgrades over the years. The reason for the discontinuation of further production of the legendary model was the tightening of CO2 emission standards. Because of this, the GT-R has not been sold in some markets for several years. For example, Australia and New Zealand saw their last sports cars in September 2021, while deliveries to Europe and the UK were completed in March 2022.

Production of the GT-R for the US was effectively discontinued in October 2024 with the release of the farewell versions of the Skyline and T-Spec Takumi. Now the model is also leaving the Japanese market. According to rumors, the new generation will appear in 2028. The sports car will receive an electric motor and a solid-fuel battery. This is also indicated by the 1340-horsepower Nissan Hyper Force concept.

That is, 2025 will be the “swan song” for this iconic model, which was called “Godzilla” and a real supercar killer. Recall that the Nissan GT-R was first shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007, as the successor to the Skyline GT-R. The coupe was equipped with a 3,8-liter V6 engine with two turbines, which initially produced 473 hp, and now, during the modernization, its output has increased to 565 hp.
