Every parent knows how difficult it is to get a toddler to go to the bathroom, especially if it happens in the morning when you need to quickly get ready and go to work. In such a situation, many mothers lose control, as a result - a spoiled day from the very morning. Of course, it is impossible to teach a toddler to properly care for his oral cavity in a few days, but at the same time there is nothing complicated in this, the main thing is your perseverance and consistency.
Patience, patience and more patience
This is probably the most important parental quality. It is important to find a balance between persistence and freedom. This does not mean that you can let the situation take its course, allowing your child to care for their teeth in any way: keep yourself in check, even if your child is naughty, over time you will achieve your goal if you are persistent and calm.
No award
Most parents make the same mistake from generation to generation - for every time they brush their teeth, the baby gets what he wants. It should not become the norm for a child to do a daily ritual. The baby must understand that brushing his teeth is not an unpleasant process for which you can get your favorite ice cream, but a normal routine that parents follow, including him - set an example for your child by not skipping brushing his teeth and involving the baby in the bathroom with you.
Get expert advice
If in our childhood a trip to the dentist was something like the most terrible punishment, today the dental office is no longer as terrible as it used to be. During your next visit to the dentist, ask the doctor to advise you and your child on how to properly care for your teeth: a specialist can correct you, and clearly explain to the child why and how to brush your teeth, and what will happen if you ignore the brush and toothpaste.
Don't forget to praise your child.
You can come up with any ritual after your child brushes their teeth properly. The main thing is not to reward them, as we have already said, but you still need to praise them to encourage them. For example, you can make something like a homemade wall on which you will mark each time you brush your teeth: you can collect a picture from stickers, adding a new detail in the morning and in the evening after the procedure is completed. Children are usually delighted with such an initiative from their mother.
