UAVs reached Chuvashia
Local authorities reported that the Burevisnik plant, which is used to store oil and petroleum products, was attacked last night.
Last night, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a plant in Cheboksary. The head of Chuvashia, Oleg Nikolayev, reported on Sunday, March 9, that a drone attacked the Burevisnik plant.
According to him, there were no casualties. Nikolayev did not say anything about the consequences of the arrival and possible damage, only noting that "the oil depot facility is under reconstruction."
"The situation is under control, emergency services are on the scene," he added.
This is the first known case of a UAV attack on Chuvashia since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is known from open sources that the Burevisnik plant belongs to Rosrezerv and is used to store oil and derivatives. The facility is located 970 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. In the morning, the Russian Defense Ministry reported 88 downed drones in eight regions, but did not mention Chuvashia.
Also on the night of March 4, drones attacked an oil refinery in Syzran, Samara Oblast, Russia. After the explosions, a fire broke out near the facility. And on the night of March 3, on Monday, Russia reported explosions at an oil refinery in Ufa. Before that, locals allegedly heard the sounds of a drone.
