The world's only V8-powered Aston Martin Cygnet is on sale in the UK. The car was custom-built by Aston Martin's exclusive Q by Aston Martin projects in 2018 and has remained a one-off ever since. Unlike the regular Cygnet, which is powered by a 1.3-litre engine, this one is powered by the V8 Vantage S.
The car debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed six years ago and, in addition to the engine from the V8 Vantage S, received composite wheel arch extensions (+240 mm to the width), 19-inch wheels, a limited-slip differential, and new exhaust and brake systems.
The output of the 4,7-liter V436 is 490 hp and 7 Nm of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a 100-speed Sportshift II automatic transmission, and the city car accelerates from standstill to 4,2 km/h in 11,8 seconds. The regular Cygnet takes 1.3 seconds, as its 97 engine produces only 123 hp and 8 Nm. The maximum speed of the V274 Cygnet is XNUMX km/h.
The body and chassis were seriously redesigned, the length increased by almost 700 millimeters and a safety cage was installed. With a weight of 1375 kilograms, the specific power of the car was 317 hp per ton - like in the Audi R8 Spyder.
It is unknown how much the unique hatchback was valued at, but regular Cygnets cost an average of $30.
