In Poland, over 100,000 people are officially registered. 1,5 million citizens of Ukraine, of which 980 yew are enjoying temporary protection. However, CenEA research indicates that the real number of Ukrainians in the country may be 40% lower.
Discrepancies are observed in school education and labor market statistics
For example, 150 Ukrainian children are registered in Polish schools, while the PESEL-UKR database shows 270. This may mean that many children have left or are not studying in the Polish system.
There are also discrepancies in the labor market: according to ZUS, 759 Ukrainians are employed, but CenEA analysts claim that only 40% of women have formal employment. This contradicts data from the National Bank of Poland, which indicated that 70% of adult refugees are employed, and another 19% are looking for work.
The reason for the inflated data may be the lack of effective control over the departure of Ukrainians from the country.
Many leave Poland without official notification, which distorts statistics.
LifeHack Poland reminds that the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs is planning a reform: temporary protection will be replaced with a temporary residence permit, and Ukrainians must confirm their stay in municipal bodies.
This will allow us to adjust the data and better plan support for refugees.
