The European Union, and specifically Poland, are trying to disrupt peace talks in Ukraine, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on his Facebook.
According to him, there is now a real opportunity to achieve peace. In particular, the Hungarian diplomat believes that Donald Trump's efforts in this direction can be crowned with success. However, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, according to Szijjártó, "advocate for bloodshed and destruction."
“It is a pity that the Polish government – together with other Brusselsites – is trying to hinder peace talks. It is this behavior of Brussels that is isolating the European Union. The majority of the world – led by the United States and with the participation of Hungary – wants peace, while 26 EU member states, including Poland, voted on Thursday to continue the war. It is a pity,” Szijjártó wrote.
Emergency EU summit in Brussels
As I wrote, an emergency informal EU summit was held in Brussels on Thursday to discuss ways to provide military support to Ukraine after the US stopped its assistance.
Following the summit, 26 EU member states agreed on the need to increase spending on their own defense and in support of Ukraine. Only Hungary opposed this.
