Swedish police are investigating an attempted sabotage on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea over the weekend.

It is noted that the sabotage attempt could have affected the water supply on the island.
"We are aware of the incident that was reported yesterday, but it is being handled by the police," said a representative of the Swedish State Security Service (Säpo).
The police declined to comment.
The Baltic island of Gotland is of strategic importance. Sweden is strengthening its presence there amid aggressive Russian behavior.
