Ukraine has lost access to satellite images taken by Maxar Technologies
The American aerospace company Maxar Technologies has disabled Ukraine's access to its satellite images due to an "administrative request."
Ukraine no longer has access to satellite imagery from the American aerospace company Maxar Technologies. Access was closed after the United States decided to suspend intelligence sharing with Ukraine. This was stated in a statement on Friday, March 7, the company said, Reuters reports.
It says that the company has contracts with the US government and dozens of allied and partner countries, and “each customer makes their own decisions about how to use and share this data.”
As the company noted, one of these contracts was concluded with GEGD (Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery program), a US government program that provides access to commercial satellite imagery collected by the United States.
"The US government has decided to temporarily suspend Ukrainian accounts in GEGD," Maxar explained.
At the same time, the US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency emphasized that the US has temporarily suspended Ukraine's access to the GEGD system, which "is the main portal for access to commercial imagery purchased by the US government."
At the same time, CNN writes that the US continues to share intelligence with Ukraine that can help its troops defend themselves, but has "rolled back" on the exchange of intelligence that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could use to attack Russian troops.
