Discussions on a mineral extraction agreement between Ukraine and the United States are still ongoing. Discussions on this issue are being held between officials from both countries, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said at a briefing.
“These talks are happening as we speak. I just saw the national security adviser. He’s working very hard on this,” Leavitt said.
The White House press secretary shared that US President's National Security Advisor Michael Waltz will visit President Donald Trump's office today to provide him with the latest information on negotiations with Ukraine.
According to Leavitt, Trump wants Ukraine and Russia to conclude a peace agreement as soon as possible. She emphasized that the American leader welcomed the message from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which he published on social media.
“This is a positive sign in the right direction,” the White House press secretary added.
Minerals Agreement – Important News
Fox News previously reported that the process of signing the minerals agreement has not moved forward. Fox News correspondent Jackie Heinrich noted that Ukraine and the United States are not yet ready to sign the document.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky explained why it was important to sign a mineral agreement with the United States. He suggested that Europe needed US security guarantees to support Western peacekeeping forces in the country after the war ended.
