Trump told where he wants to see himself in world history

US President Donald Trump said that he sees himself in the same cohort as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and wants to be remembered as a peacemaker who ends wars.

He said this in response to Ukrinform's question about what place he wants to take in history and which famous figures he associates himself with.

"I would say, with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. I would say I am much better than George Washington and Abraham Lincoln," the current US president said after a short pause after the question.

Although then he caught himself and noticed that he was joking.

"Because when I say that, fake news will spread, saying that he thinks he's better than Washington. But you never know," Trump added.

He continued by saying that he doesn't compare himself to anyone and is simply doing his job. In this regard, he praised the efforts of his own administration in the first 35 days after inauguration.

"But it would be a great achievement if we could stop the war," the US president said in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian settlement.

In the end, he remarked that he wanted to go down in history as a peacemaker.

"I hope so. I mean, I hope I'm remembered as a peacemaker. It would be great if we could do that (stop the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine – ed.".) I'm doing this to save lives more than anything else," Trump continued.
