Toyota FT-Me: a new microcar concept that could go into production

Toyota has unveiled a new concept for a compact electric car, the FT-Me, which could be a breakthrough in urban mobility. The 2,5-meter two-seater takes up only half the space of a standard parking space and could compete with the Citroen Ami.

Although the FT-Me is still just a concept, Toyota is actively considering the possibility of its mass production. According to Stein Peters, head of new mobility at Toyota Europe, the company aims to make this vehicle affordable, safe, environmentally friendly and attractive. The car will have a range of at least 100 km and a top speed of 45 km/h, which is in line with the ATV class.

The FT-Me is aimed at young drivers, city dwellers and those looking for a compact second car. Thanks to its quad bike status in some countries, it can be driven by people aged 14 and over. In addition, the passenger seat can be removed to accommodate a bicycle, dog or wheelchair, and the cargo space is 1,6 metres long.

Toyota also emphasizes the high level of technological sophistication of the model. The smartphone will be the key and multimedia system, ensuring maximum integration with the car.
