Stellantis, together with its Chinese partner Dongfeng, launches new electric vehicle brand Hedmosto strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing Chinese market. The first model of the new brand will be the electric crossover Fukang 06, which will be produced at the facilities of the Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen joint venture.
As f1analytic writes, Fukang 06 is a compact crossover in the C-SUV segment with a length of approximately 4,7 meters. It will be equipped with a 218 hp electric motor, powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery manufactured by CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery). Thanks to the use of this technology, the battery should be reliable, affordable and provide a good range.
The emblem of the new Hedmos brand is a “compass arrow”, symbolizing the desire for adventure and exploration. Interestingly, the name Fukang already has a history in China – it has been used for local versions of Peugeot, Citroen and Dongfeng since the 1990s.
The Fukang 06 will be sold through the existing Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen dealer network, which should ensure a quick market entry for the brand. Orders will be accepted in April 2025, and mass production will start in May. The price of the new model is expected to be between $15 and $20, making it competitive in the Chinese electric vehicle market.
This move is part of Stellantis' strategy to expand its presence in China and adapt to the growing demand for affordable electric vehicles.
