The condition of Pope Francis, who is in the Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome, has been stabilized, but the prognosis remains cautious.
This was reported by the press service of the Holy See, the Vatican News portal reports.
The condition of the Holy Father remains stable on March 4. During the day, he had no episodes of respiratory failure or bronchospasm, and no increase in body temperature was recorded. His Holiness Pope Francis is conscious and oriented.
He was transferred to high-flow oxygen therapy and respiratory physiotherapy, but non-invasive ventilation is scheduled to be resumed in the evening. The prognosis remains cautious.
The Vatican also reported that the Pope alternated prayer with rest, and received Holy Communion in the morning.
The clinical picture is generally stable, including heart and kidney function and blood tests.
“The frequency of bronchospasms is not unexpected in the context of pneumonia such as the Pope’s. At the same time, the overall situation remains complex,” the Vatican said.
Recall that the other day the Pope suffered two episodes of acute respiratory failure.
