Nowadays, all housewives use eggs and flour when making deruns. But in fact, the classic recipe for this dish does not contain these ingredients.
Deruny is one of the most famous potato dishes, prepared in every Ukrainian family. Almost all housewives prepare this dish in the same way, adding eggs and flour to the potato dough.
But in fact, the classic recipe for making deruns does not contain these ingredients. Deruns without eggs and flour turn out very tasty. They have a crispy crust, and inside they are very tender. And you don't have to worry that such deruns will fall apart in the pan. They hold together perfectly and are easy to fry.
Necessary ingredients:
- potatoes - 500 g;
- onion - 1 pcs.;
- salt, pepper to taste;
- oil for frying;
- sour cream for serving.
Method of cooking:
Peel the potatoes and immediately start cooking the dish. The potatoes do not need to be covered with water so that the starch does not wash out.
Grate the potatoes on the finest grater. Grate 1 large onion in the same way as the potatoes. Salt the resulting mixture to taste and add black ground pepper.

Now you need to drain the excess water from the potato mass. To do this, put it on a sieve and leave it for 5 minutes to drain the excess liquid. Pour out the juice, and transfer the potato mass back to the bowl.
Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil. Place the pancakes on the heated frying pan and fry over medium heat for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown. The pancakes hold together perfectly and do not spread out on the pan.

Place the finished pancakes on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve the dish hot with sour cream.
The pancakes made with this recipe are incredibly tasty and have a crispy crust.
