An Ontario photographer captured a unique bird fight between a bald eagle and a Canada goose. The amazing photos went viral after being posted on Instagram, with netizens calling them a symbol of the US-Canada trade war.
The feathered duel took place on a frozen lake in Canada. The 74-year-old photographer, Mervyn Sequeira, said the picture he captured was "very symbolic" indeed. writes NewYorkPost (reposted by obozrevatel.com).
“I know people are comparing this to what’s going on between Canada and the U.S., but I’m just trying to document what I see in the wild as best I can,” Sequeira said. He said the bird fight began when a bald eagle attacked a seemingly weak goose that he suspected had bird flu.
“It seemed to me that the goose was sick because it was all alone, which is not typical for these birds,” the photographer noted.
The bald eagle tried to tear its rival to pieces, but it fought back. "The bald eagle attacked the goose at least four times, trying to kill it. But it fought back," Sequeira emphasized.
The fight lasted 20 minutes until the bald eagle gave up trying to defeat its opponent, who turned out to be strong, the photographer wrote on Instagram.
