Yesterday, March 7, the Russian army carried out a massive drone strike on Odessa, causing large-scale fires in the city, leaving more than a thousand people without electricity.

As an UNIAN correspondent reports, late in the evening of March 7, an air raid was declared, and the enemy launched a drone strike on the city. Explosions and shooting could be heard for a long time in different parts of the city. People reported on social networks about a large-scale fire.

Later, the information was confirmed. In particular, as said According to the press service of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office, a massive drone attack took place in Odessa.

According to the investigation, on the evening of March 7, the Russian armed forces attacked Odessa with attack drones, previously of the Shahed-136 type. The city's energy and civil infrastructure facilities were under attack.

"A hangar with agricultural machinery, a four-story industrial enterprise building, a gas station, a car shop, a service station, a car showroom, and at least 8 cars were damaged and destroyed. Due to the enemy attack, almost one and a half thousand local residents were left without electricity. A full list of destruction and damage is being established," the department said.




Law enforcement officers are currently documenting the consequences of the attack. An investigation into the facts of war crimes has been launched (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The regional headquarters of the State Emergency Service also confirmed, that large-scale fires broke out — a hangar with agricultural machinery, a service station building, a car shop, solar panels stacked in an open area, the specified industrial building, etc.

According to preliminary information, there were no deaths or injuries. The fires were extinguished by rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the fire department of the National Guard of Ukraine, a unit of the Odessa City Council, and volunteers.
