French President Emmanuel Macron's approval rating has risen to its highest level since June as the politician pushes for European efforts to support Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reports, Bloomberg reports this with reference to an Ifop poll for the Ouest-France publication.
Macron's approval rating rose to 31% in March, up seven points from the previous month and about the same as it was on the eve of last year's snap parliamentary elections. Meanwhile, Prime Minister François Bayrou's approval rating fell five points to 34%.
The article says Macron's position has improved after he put himself at the center of European efforts to increase defense spending and support Ukraine amid the end of U.S. support. He also proposed starting talks on using France's nuclear capabilities to defend allies on the continent.
The survey showed that 53% of respondents are concerned about international affairs related to Ukraine, while 84% of those polled believe that peace talks cannot be achieved without Kyiv's participation.
Satisfaction with Macron among the elderly, retirees and office workers, who tend to be his biggest supporters, rose by two points, according to the survey of 1500 adults.
The French leader's popularity has plummeted since he called early elections last summer, leaving the National Assembly deeply divided.
