Representatives of US President Donald Trump held secret talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team after Friday's Oval Office altercation to "get the talks back on track."

As CNN reported, citing its own sources, Trump's representatives stressed the importance of stabilizing relations as soon as possible and called for the resumption of negotiations before the president's address to Congress.

CNN noted that among those who spoke with Zelensky was Trump's special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg.

A White House official told CNN that the Ukrainian mineral deal has not yet been signed. However, a White House spokesman said the Trump administration believes negotiations on the deal are “moving in the right direction.”

A representative of Trump's team noted that the president, who will touch on the topic of the war in Ukraine during his speech, wants to announce an agreement on Ukrainian minerals.
