Italian cardiologist Giulio Stefanini presented key habits that have a beneficial effect on heart health. One of them is getting enough sleep.
"A healthy lifestyle is an important strategy from the point of view of primary prevention for those who do not have any heart disease, but who should also work to reduce the risk of problems with existing diseases," says Giulio Stefanini.
In particular, studies have proven the indisputable importance of breakfast for reducing the risk of cardiovascular events, as well as for reducing the likelihood of the development of arteriosclerotic plaques at the level of the carotid and coronary arteries, which are considered so-called preclinical signs of danger. The Mediterranean diet, in turn, is the most suitable in this regard. The presence of olive oil and walnuts in the diet significantly reduces the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases. Milk and yogurt are also named by Giulio Stefanini as preventive products against problems with a vital organ.
Sleep is a fundamental component of life, and its lack increases stress levels. It has been experimentally proven that the duration of a night's rest of less than six hours is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, as well as with a low quality of sleep itself. Professor Stefanini also mentioned signs that should not be underestimated as they may indicate some heart problems. The most typical are: chest pain, heart rhythm disturbances, shortness of breath in a state of anxiety.
