Mercedes is preparing to unveil a new concept that will usher in a new era of all-electric vans for the brand. The model, called Vision V, will not just be the announcement of one van, but will present an entire line - from compact family models to VIP shuttles and luxury four-seater limousines.
Tells NNews with reference to auto express.
All models will be built on the all-new VAN.EA platform, specifically designed for electric vehicles. This will allow for the most efficient use of the electric architecture. In particular, the vans will receive advanced technologies borrowed from Mercedes electric passenger cars, including an 800-volt system that will provide fast charging with a capacity of up to 320 kW, as well as premium suspension and an improved chassis.

The new platform will offer both single-motor and dual-motor all-wheel drive variants. This will allow Mercedes to tailor its electric vans to different tasks and needs. The target range for the premium VAN.EA models will be at least 500 km.
Mercedes has already stated that the VAN.EA technology will provide a clear separation between luxury vans (these are the ones shown in the teaser) and commercial models. The VAN.EA-P platform (P stands for “premium”) is aimed at creating high-end family cars, VIP shuttles and spacious limousines. Commercial models will be based on the VAN.EA-C platform (C stands for “commercial”).

Mercedes has previously also shown that VAN.EA is suitable for creating medium and large campers. Several conversion kits are already available for the existing Mercedes EQV.
Electric vans on the new platform will receive a new MB.OS infotainment system. Premium versions will have constant internet connectivity for over-the-air updates. In addition, the new models will have Level 2 automated driving functions, and by the end of the decade the company plans to introduce Level 3 autonomous technologies.
So far, Mercedes has only shown a few test prototypes on the new platform, but with market entry, the brand will be able to offer even more specialized models for different markets — from family cars for Europe to luxury corporate shuttles for Tokyo — to compete in the premium electric van segment around the world.
