Indian company Mahindra has introduced a new version of its best-selling SUV, the Scorpio-N, in the Carbon Edition. Curiously, despite the name, the car does not have a single carbon part.

Mahindra has decided to celebrate the sale of the 200th copy of its Scorpio-N frame SUV. In honor of the “anniversary”, the company has prepared the so-called “carbon” version, which is distinguished by a black body color Metallic Black and tinted decorative elements that replaced the bright chrome of the regular Scorpio-N. In addition, the package includes 18-inch alloy wheels in Piano Black gloss and roof rails in Dark Galvano finish. The car also received tinted lighting.

For the Carbon Edition interior, the company's designers chose black leatherette with contrasting stitching and decorative elements made of darkened chrome. The SUV is available exclusively in three-row, seven-seat configuration and top-of-the-line trim. The standard equipment of the new model includes a multimedia system with an 8-inch touch screen, a panoramic sunroof and an audio system with 12 speakers.

Recall that the Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV was introduced in 2022 and aroused great interest among buyers. The car became the successor to the Scorpio model (debuted in 2002), which was preserved in production under the name Scorpio Classic. The new model is built on a fundamentally different platform, although it inherited the frame structure.

The Scorpio-N is available with a choice of two powertrains – a 2-litre petrol engine with 149kW/200hp and a 2,2-litre diesel engine with 129kW/175hp. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The petrol version is rear-wheel drive only, while diesel buyers can order an all-wheel drive option.

The cost of the Mahindra Scorpio-N Carbon Edition starts at $22000 in India, which is $230 more than the standard Scorpion-N. The main competitor for the new product is the Tata Harrier SUV in a similar Dark Edition version.
