The endocrinologist noted that it is not necessary to fight against a strong desire to eat something sweet.
Many people feel a strong desire for sweets in the evening: for example, they want chocolate or soda.
"The craving for sweets before bedtime can be provoked by psychological reasons and chemical processes that occur in the body in the evening," the doctor commented on this desire.
First of all, the doctor explained, the attraction to sweets indicates the fatigue of the body, its exhaustion from overloads or chronic stress. In addition, in the evening, the body produces insulin more actively - this also contributes to the strong desire to snack on something sweet.
The endocrinologist said that if the desire for sweets is very strong, then it is not necessary to resist it, but she recommended snacking on products with sugar substitutes: for example, with natural stevia or erythritol.
"Using products with sugar substitutes gives psychological and emotional satisfaction," the doctor stated.
The endocrinologist clarified that when using sugar substitutes, there is no additional synthesis of insulin - this is important in the prevention of diabetes.
