Kia has revealed the EV2, a budget electric crossover. It is presented as a concept, but will go into production in 2026 and enter the European market.
The prototype electric car boasts unusual solutions, such as rear doors that open against the direction of travel and special information panels for communicating with other road users.
It’s not visible in the renders, but the EV2’s headlights don’t have protective glass, which certainly adds to the crossover’s personality. The cabin is designed for four people, with the second row folding, allowing the front sofa to slide close to the trunk. This layout can be used for outdoor recreation or to spend time while the car is charging.
The metal surface at the bottom of the front panel is a separate design feature. It houses wireless charging and a power outlet. The triangular speakers in the doors can be removed and used outside the car, like on the Toyota Tacoma. The production EV2 will support over-the-air updates and will be able to power external consumers, although both are usually only found in cars of a class higher.
The production Kia EV2 will be sold in Europe and "a number of other regions." More details will appear after the premiere of the commercial crossover, but so far there are no specifications, no data on equipment, and even less prices.
