About 15 countries want to provide security guarantees for Ukraine. This was stated by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu.
According to the BBC, on Wednesday, March 12, a meeting of the defense ministers of Great Britain, Germany, France, Poland, and Italy took place in Paris. Lecornu chaired the negotiations.
According to the French minister, “the real security guarantees here will be the assistance we can provide to the Ukrainian army.”
“It's difficult… we have to think about security issues in the Black Sea, about nuclear power plants in Ukraine… and we will have to start thinking about the division of these responsibilities,” he noted.
Lecornu also reported that in 15 days a meeting of the Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces of a number of countries will take place.
“Why 15 days? Because if Russia has agreed to a ceasefire, we obviously want to use 30 days to develop a security framework,” he explained.
