Renault 4 electric car enters European markets

Renault is starting sales of the Renault 4 electric crossover on the European market. The new product officially debuted in October last year at the Paris Motor Show, and this week its sales began, configurators on Renault's European websites became available, and dealers began accepting orders. Autogeek reports.

The crossover is based on the AmpR Small platform, a single electric motor is located on the front axle and rotates the front wheels. The technical data of the new “four” indicated on Renault’s consumer websites are slightly different from those announced during the premiere.

The overall length of the new Renault 4 according to the specified data is 4144 mm, width – 1808 mm, height – 1570 mm, wheelbase – 2624 mm, and ground clearance – 181 mm. The trunk volume is 420 liters, with the second row backrests folded down – 1405 liters. The curb weight is from 1335 to 1387 kg depending on the equipment.

At the start of sales, the Renault 4 is offered in three trim levels – the basic Evolution, Techno and the top Iconic. The simplest crossover in the Evolution trim level costs 29 euros, its electric motor produces 400 hp and 122 Nm, acceleration to 225 km/h takes 100 s, the maximum speed is limited to 9,2 km/h. Battery capacity is 150 kWh, range on a single charge is 40 km according to the WLTP cycle.

For 29 euros you get a red crossover (other colors require an additional fee) on stamped wheels with hubcaps. The equipment includes a 400-inch multimedia screen, climate control, a heat pump and a rich set of active and passive safety systems. At the same time, many useful things are hidden in the options - for example, a winter package (10 euros), mud flaps, floor mats and various interior accessories.

Renault 4 in the Evolution trim level is also available with a more powerful electric motor (150 hp, 245 Nm) complete with a 52 kWh battery. Such a crossover costs from 32 euros, it accelerates to the first hundred in 400 seconds, the maximum speed is 8,2 km/h, the range on a single charge is 150 km. The crossover in the Techno trim level (from 404 euros) and Iconic (from 34 euros) is offered only in combination with a 400-horsepower motor and a 36 kWh battery.
