Automotive expert Andy, author of the blog Andy's Auto Advice, posted a video on TikTok in which he shared a list of car brands to buy and avoid. The video quickly went viral, garnering over 4,8 million views, 212,7 thousand likes, and 11,3 thousand comments.
In his video, Andy made a strong statement about certain brands:
- Hyundai and Kia – “Avoid all Hyundai and Kia products at all costs. After all, you’ll be waiting six months to get your car back after you blow up the engine.”
- Volkswagen – “They’re not what they used to be. A lot of their products have become cheap and unreliable over the last decade or so. I just avoid them at all costs.”
- General Motors – “I would say avoid any new GM products. They have become cheaper, have a lot of engine problems, especially in large vehicles. Their 3,6-liter engines have always been problematic for SUVs.”
What cars does the expert recommend?
Instead, Andy recommends looking at the following brands:
- Toyota and Honda;
- BMW with B58 or B48 engines developed jointly with Toyota;
- Nissan and Infiniti with V6 and non-CVT transmissions;
- Ford F-150.
Summing up his thoughts, Andy noted:
"Most brand new cars are junk. You have to be a little more picky than you used to be. Definitely do a lot of research and go to the dealer with caution."
However, many users in the comments disagreed with the expert's conclusions. One commenter wrote: "Saying anything from Toyota is a crazy thing."
