Pathogens of phytophthora and other diseases winter in the soil, which is why it is important to process the soil after the vegetables are removed from the garden. The processing method that we will talk about will help disinfect the land after growing tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.

If in the previous season the tomatoes were sick with phytophthora, the land after them must be cultivated, otherwise next year the planted plants will get sick again. Fungal spores are stored in the upper layer of the soil, so it is enough to pour the ground to a small depth with a disinfecting solution.
Copper sulfate is ideal for this purpose. It can be used not only for trees and shrubs, but also for soil. It is better to do it in autumn, without giving harmful microorganisms a chance to overwinter.
As soon as the bed is cleaned of tops and plant residues, it should be watered with a solution of copper sulfate. First, dilute 150 g of powder in 1 liter of warm water. Then pour the contents of the can into a bucket of 9 liters of water and mix well.
Pour the finished composition into a watering can and evenly distribute it over the entire area of the beds, trying to water the ground with the solution without gaps. One watering can is enough to treat 3 square meters of soil.
After this treatment, the number of active fungal spores in the ground will significantly decrease. Do not forget only next season about preventive spraying and follow the rules of crop rotation. It is better to plant pumpkin crops after tomatoes, and root crops after cucumbers.
