“It will be worse than Afghanistan”: Trump ally calls for renewed aid to Ukraine

The US should resume military aid to Ukraine as soon as possible and maintain it until the fighting stops. Because the fall of Ukraine will have worse consequences than the fall of the pro-Western government in Afghanistan in 2021. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said this in an interview with Fox News.

The politician expressed concern over the suspension of American weapons and intelligence supplies to Ukraine after Zelensky's quarrel with Trump.

“If we shut down Ukraine, it would be worse than Afghanistan. I don’t think President Trump has the desire to do that. Until we cease fire, I would give Ukraine what it needs in terms of intelligence and weapons for self-defense,” Graham said.

At the same time, the senator said that additional sanctions against the Russian banking system and energy sector will be introduced next week to force Russia to sit at the negotiating table.

“However, without providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons, these talks will be meaningless. You cannot help resolve the conflict if you do not provide Ukraine with intelligence and resources for defense while the fighting continues. I hope that next week we will get a clear vision from Ukraine on what the end of the war should be, and we will begin to work on ending it,” Graham said.

Stopping American aid to Ukraine

As I wrote, this week the US stopped providing all military aid to Ukraine, including intelligence. Before that, Trump said that Ukraine did not want to end the war because it felt strong thanks to American aid.

Earlier, Trump stated that the United States could completely remove itself from the Russian-Ukrainian war if Kyiv does not demonstrate a desire for peace.
