Audi introduces the new A6 Avant

Audi has introduced the new A6 Avant. Unlike its electric namesake with the e-tron prefix, the five-door petrol model has retained its design without the two-story optics, and at the same time has become the most aerodynamic ICE-powered Avant in history.

The Cd coefficient was 0,25, 0,01 less than in the A6 Avant e-tron. This figure was achieved by movable flaps in the front bumper, a roof spoiler and special rear window trims.

The new A6 Avant features stiffer steering with a progressive rack and pinion and a larger camber angle, which positively affects handling. Adaptive air suspension, a rear limited-slip differential and a full-steering chassis are available as options.

The basic 2.0 TFSI turbo engine produces 204 hp and 340 Nm of torque. The range also includes a 2.0 TDI diesel engine, supplemented by a 48-volt starter-generator (24 hp, 230 Nm) with recuperation function (up to 25 kW), and a V6 petrol 3.0 TFSI (367 hp, 550 Nm), which, like the diesel, is equipped with the MHEV plus system.

The gearbox is a 7-speed “robot”, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The six-cylinder station wagon accelerates to “hundreds” in 4,7 seconds, the diesel with quattro transmission takes 7 seconds (7,9 with front-wheel drive), and the initial front-wheel drive A6 Avant is put in 8,3 seconds. The maximum speed of cars with younger engines is limited to 240 km/h, with V6 – to 250 km/h.

The interior of the new A6 Avant practically repeats the A5. On the front panel there are three displays: a digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 11,9 inches, a central screen of 14,5 inches and an optional passenger screen with a diagonal of 10,9 inches. For the station wagon, a panoramic roof made of electrochromic glass, a Bang & Olufsen audio system and four-zone climate control with an ionizer and a dust sensor are offered. In addition, noise insulation has been improved and acoustic glazing of the rear doors has been added.
