You should not drink coffee before going to bed, the caffeine contained in it will prevent you from falling asleep. Stimulating components are found in cola, energy drinks and natural health products.
Caffeine stimulates the nervous system, increases blood pressure. Stimulants should be avoided to avoid difficulty falling asleep. Nutrition expert Heidrun Schubert from the Bavarian Consumer Center explains:
"Difficulties with falling asleep are individual, often associated with certain food products. Therefore, everyone should try for themselves whether refusal will help to help them fall asleep."
Do not eat 5 foods an hour before bedtime
1. Licorice
Licorice contains glycyrrhizin, a medicinal plant compound. It affects the water-salt balance, increases blood pressure. This causes mild anxiety and difficulty falling asleep (not always).
2. Raw food and salad
Vegetables can prevent you from falling asleep. The stomach should "cut" raw food, salad. It runs at full speed during the processing phase, it cannot stop in the actual deep sleep phase.
3. Chocolate
Chocolate contains the phytochemical theobromine. It has a stimulating effect on the body, like caffeine.
4. Chili and ginger
Chili pods contain the substance capsaicin, which causes heat. The expert explains:
"The product accelerates metabolism, causes an increase in body temperature and keeps the body awake. Ginger has a similar effect."
5. Tea
Any type of tea can cause difficulty falling asleep: especially the first batch of green tea contains a lot of caffeine.
Expert advice:
"Try an early dinner, stop eating after 6 or 8 in the evening."
The body will no longer have to work at night.
