Known as swine flu, the H1N1 strain is transmitted to humans from pigs. It is characterized by symptoms such as fever, sore throat, chills, runny nose, headaches and diarrhea.
Stay home. People with the flu are strongly advised to stay home for at least 48 hours after symptoms appear. This can help prevent further transmission of the virus. However, it is best to avoid going to work or public places until you are fully recovered.
Wash your hands more often. After infection, hands may be contaminated with the virus. In this case, it is recommended to wash them thoroughly with an antibacterial solution to avoid transmitting the virus to others. Use alcohol-based solutions.
Close your mouth. If you can't stay home, it's best to wear a surgical mask when you're in public. Coughing, sneezing, and other activities can release flu-infected particles into the air.
Keep your distance. If you need to travel by public transport and it is not rush hour, then try to keep your distance from others. It is better if you are in some isolation, this way the probability of infection is reduced.
