Volkswagen has released new sketches of its most affordable electric car, which is set to hit the European market in 2027. The car will replace the discontinued VW Up! model and promises a starting price of around 20 euros (approximately $000). The official concept version will be presented on March 20, Autonews reports.
Although Volkswagen has not confirmed the exact name of the model, there are indications of a possible name "ID. Every1", which is in line with the ID. 2all concept presented in 2023. This model will be part of the company's strategy to produce affordable electric vehicles, including a supermini priced under 25 euros by 000.
The new sketches, developed by Andreas Mindt, VW's head of design, show a compact yet spacious hatchback that combines functionality and style. Design features include a bold front end with integrated LED headlights and an illuminated VW emblem. The rear of the car features a glass tailgate, a characteristic of city cars.
The ID. 1 will be built on the MEB platform, which will also be used for the larger ID. 2 model, and promises to be equipped with an affordable battery and electric motor, making it ideal for the mass market.
