Now scientists fear a tsunami that could reach Puerto Rico.
A powerful 7,6-magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean Sea north of Honduras two days ago, prompting nearby islands and countries to issue tsunami warnings. Giant waves could reach Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Now, a quake has struck in Nevada and was felt in the famous Area 51, where secrets about aliens are allegedly kept, The Mirror reports.
The occurrence of tsunami waves has not yet been confirmed, and the Tsunami Warning Center is monitoring to assess the threat.
The Tsunami Warning Center initially reported the earthquake as a magnitude 8, but then revised the assessment and called it the largest earthquake in the world since 2023.
"The Cayman Islands are at risk of a tsunami. Residents living near the coastline are advised to move inland," the Cayman Islands government said.
Now they fear a second earthquake and remind that an early sign of a possible tsunami may be the retreat of seawater near the coastline into the ocean.
And a 2,8 magnitude earthquake occurred near Las Vegas at a secret military test site nicknamed Area 51.
The US Geological Survey said the earthquake's epicenter was east of the Amargosa Valley, about 70 km from a US Air Force facility infamous for conspiracies about its connection to aliens and UFOs.
It is not known whether the relatively small tremor caused any structural damage to the base, which has a perimeter of about 11 miles, preventing anyone from accessing it without high-level clearance. Nevada itself is prone to earthquakes and experiences tens of thousands of microshocks each year. Earthquakes between magnitudes 2,5 and 5,4 “are often felt but cause only minor damage,” Michigan Technological University says.
