The European Union will impose new sanctions against Russia
The new sanctions package will be officially approved on February 24, the third anniversary of the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Ambassadors of the European Union countries have agreed on a 16th package of sanctions against Russia in response to its full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Radio Free Europe Editor Rikard Jozwiak reported on the X social network on Wednesday, February 19.
"The EU has just agreed a new package of sanctions against Russia. 16 since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago. Will be officially approved by EU foreign ministers on Monday," he wrote.
This information was confirmed by a senior European diplomat in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine. According to him, this decision is “a clear signal from the EU: our line remains unchanged.”
"We continue to support Ukraine and continue to apply sanctions against the Russian aggressor because it is the right thing to do, defending international rules and order and protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," he stressed.
