British oncologists spoke in the press with a warning that hoarseness that appeared in a person's voice could be the initial symptom of developing lung cancer.
"Always pay attention to hoarseness that suddenly appeared in the voice, which lasts for several weeks. This can be a signal of the beginning of cancer. Knowing this fact saves if you pay attention to the symptom in time," the doctors said.
According to experts, the appearance of lung cancer is influenced by hereditary predisposition. It was found that many patients have a family history of this disease - there are cases of lung cancer among their relatives. In addition, scientists have noticed a connection between the appearance of lung cancer and the presence of chronic lung diseases, in particular, tuberculosis.
The ecological environment in which a person lives also plays a big role. According to experts, living in industrial regions characterized by a large number of plants and factories, as well as near highways with their exhausts, sharply increases the risk of lung cancer. The incidence rates of this type of cancer in the population of such regions are invariably above average.
In addition, people who work with toxic substances, such as arsenic, asbestos, chromium, nickel, are more at risk of becoming victims of lung cancer.
Speaking about a hoarse voice, experts noticed: hoarseness is not always a sign of cancer. However, when a strange hoarseness in the voice appears, especially if it does not go away for a long time, you should immediately seek a medical examination, scientists recommended.
