If you have a Ukrainian driver's license, then in Ireland you only need 6 official driving lessons with an instructor, not 12. However, first you need to go through a certain procedure, reports Channel 24.
Note that a driving lesson with an instructor in Ireland costs approximately 45 euros per hour. If you reduce the number of lessons from 12 to 6, this will save you a lot of money.
How to get a driver's license in Ireland
First, you need to confirm that your driver's license was issued in Ukraine. To do this, visit the website of the main service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and find the contacts of the regional service where you received your driver's license.
Next, send them an email with a request.
After receiving a response from the service center, you will need to send there:
- application for confirmation of the fact of issuing a driver's license;
- photocopy of Ukrainian passport (1,2 pages and residence permit);
- photocopy of your passport;
- photocopy of your driver's license (both sides).
The letter must be signed with an electronic digital signature. Alternatively, you can attach a scanned, signed application to the letter.
There is another option – to send the application and copies in paper form by regular mail. In this case, each page of the copies of documents must be personally certified. The inscription on the certification of the pages must contain the words: “According to the original”, under which are written: date, signature, initials and surname of the applicant.
Usually, the fact of issuing a driver's license is confirmed in 2-3 days., but it depends on the workload of the regional center you are contacting.
After receiving the document, it must be translated into English and officially certified.
Where to send documents in Ireland
The translation of the confirmation of the fact of issuing a driver's license must be sent to Cork, attaching: an application, a copy of the original document (the fact of issuing a driver's license), and a color photocopy of your driver's license (both sides).
