Accelerating the resolution of the Ukrainian issue means that Europe needs to do more and better. According to the portal "Comments", this statement was made by a representative of the French president before informal talks with several key European leaders in Paris. This is reported by "Reuters".
The publication noted that US President Donald Trump stunned European allies when he announced that he had a phone call with Russian dictator Putin without consulting them and would launch a peace process. Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, further shocked Europe when he said it had no place at the peace table.
“We believe that due to the acceleration of the Ukrainian issue, as well as due to what American leaders are saying, Europeans need to do more, better, and more coherently for our collective security,” the official said.
The source added that the meeting will consider “security guarantees that Europeans and Americans can provide, together or separately.”
The publication indicated that some countries were unhappy that the meeting was only for elected leaders and was not a full-fledged EU summit.
