Communication between the United States of America and the Russian Federation bypassing Ukraine also means excluding Europe from this dialogue.
This opinion was expressed in the microblog X by Friedrich Merz, the candidate for chancellor of Germany from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU), who is leading in the parliamentary elections. According to him, after such difficult election results, his priority is to form a government:
"My impression over the last few days is that Russia and America are coming together – through the leaders of Ukraine, and therefore through the leaders of Europe. That's why everyone is looking at Germany now. How quickly will the Germans be able to form a government after such difficult election results?"
Elections in Germany
On February 23, 2025, early parliamentary elections were held in Germany, the results of which indicate significant changes in the country's political landscape.
The counting is not yet complete, but exit polls show the Christian Democratic Union winning. The Alternative for Germany is in second place, and Olaf Scholz's Social Democratic Party of Germany is in third place.
The presidents of Ukraine and the United States have already congratulated the CDU/CSU victory. At the same time, Merz said he wants to achieve Germany's independence from the United States.
