Veterans will receive compensation for car insurance costs

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs announced a compensation program after numerous requests from defenders.

The department has initiated changes to the legislation to reduce the financial burden on servicemen who participated in the defense of the state, META reports.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported in the first reading draft law No. 12295-d, developed by the Committee with the participation of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and which provides for compensation for the costs of mandatory civil liability insurance (MCLI) for war veterans.

The ministry claims that citizens from the UBD category, as well as persons who became disabled due to the war, will be exempt from mandatory auto insurance until June 30 of this year.

From January 1, 2025, during martial law and for a year after it, the costs of the OSCPV policy will be compensated from the state budget. The cost of a "civilian car" is reduced by 50% (in fact, 0% will be paid) for persons with disabilities as a result of the war, if the car belongs to them personally and has an engine capacity of up to 2 cm³ or an electric motor power of up to 500 kW.
