Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai has begun mass production of the new 2025 Model Y, codenamed Juniper. The first production cars of this model have already rolled off the assembly line and are painted in the new Glacier Blue color. Tesla China shared this important news on social media Weibo, emphasizing that mass production started on February 17, informs Autopilot.
The first Model Y cars to enter production are all-wheel drive, as indicated by the corresponding badges on the rear. This version is equipped with a 78,4 kWh NMC battery and two electric motors with a total power of 331 kW (444 hp). Thanks to this, the Tesla Model Y AWD accelerates from zero to sixty in 4,3 seconds and has a range of 719 km on the CLTC cycle.

In addition to the all-wheel drive version, the updated Tesla Model Y is also available with a single electric motor on the rear axle with a capacity of 220 kW (295 hp). This motor is powered by a 62,5 kWh LFP battery manufactured by CATL. This version has a range of up to 593 km on the CLTC cycle.
The limited Launch Edition of this electric car will be available for a price of 253 to 500 yuan ($303-$500), with first deliveries scheduled for the end of February.
