Considering these alarming statistical data, it is extremely important that the symptoms of stomach cancer are detected as early as possible, experts of the publication state.
According to experts at the MD Anderson Oncology Center at the University of Texas, symptoms of stomach cancer can include heartburn-like symptoms and irritable bowel syndrome. In particular, acid reflux that does not pass for a long time, burning sensation in the stomach can be such.
"Heartburn, indigestion and other common symptoms of irritable bowel are much more likely to indicate gastrointestinal problems than stomach cancer. But it's still a good idea to consult a doctor and inform him about these changes," the scientists advised.
Other symptoms to look out for. An alarming sign of stomach cancer can be blood in the stool, vomiting, lack of appetite or very fast satiety, unexplained weight loss, abdominal bloating, diarrhea or constipation.
"A dull pain in the middle of the stomach can be considered a classic sign of stomach cancer. This pain is constant and seems to be gnawing," the scientists said.
Scientists recalled that stomach cancer usually does not cause any early symptoms, and is often not diagnosed until it has spread to other parts of the body. Therefore, when the indicated symptoms appear, it is necessary to be examined, even if the examination shows that there are no reasons to suspect a cancerous tumor.
