In one of their materials, psychologists report that people who are selective in choosing a partner are highly valued by the opposite sex.
Psychologists emphasize in their work that often people who sympathize with people lose interest in them as soon as they begin to feel attention in return from them. People who are easily accessible are perceived by the opposite sex as less attractive. The most interesting in terms of romantic relationships are individuals with a dimly expressed interest.
A group of scientists led by Gurit E. Birnbaum from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya conducted a study with a group of students, whose average age was 24. The groups of students were asked to review information about a potential partner. In the first case, the information carried a more selective version of the partner, and in the second - spoke about a less selective personality.
The study found that students were most interested in online profiles of participants who were more private and selective in their choice of partners. Another experiment in which participants had to communicate in an online chat showed that interlocutors who were less available in communication attracted students more, forcing them to make every effort to meet up later.
Experts plan to conduct further research on this topic with a large number of participants of different age groups.
