The bomber turned out to be a local resident
Local authorities said the explosion damaged paving slabs, but there were no casualties or injuries.
An explosion occurred at the Samara regional government building on Thursday morning, February 27. The cause was a man who threw an explosive device, presumably a hand grenade, onto the building's porch, regional governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said on Telegram.
As a result of the incident, the paving slabs were damaged, but there were no casualties or injuries, a Russian official assures.
"Operational services were working at the scene. The circumstances of what happened are being established. The man has been detained. The motive is still unclear," the head of the region said.
The Russian pro-government Telegram channel Shot added that the bomber turned out to be a local resident. A criminal case has now been opened under the article on terrorist acts, and he faces up to 20 years in prison.
The social media site claims that the man was drunk at the time of the crime. The man later explained that he "found" the grenade.
The suspect was brought to the government building by his son, and the motive for the act was dissatisfaction with the authorities.
