Deutsche Bank refuses to compensate customers for losses
The robbers managed to get inside the bank, stay overnight in the financial institution, and open the safe deposit boxes without any hindrance.
A daring bank robbery took place in the German city of Lubeck - criminals took 10 million euros from the vault by breaking into 326 safe deposit boxes at a Deutsche Bank branch. Bild reported this the day before, citing local police.
Law enforcement officers determined that the criminals had rented safe deposit boxes in advance to gain access to the bank's basement.
"They simply hid inside the building and waited for the bank to close. After opening the safes, they filled the suitcases with money, gold, and securities, and then drove off in an unknown direction in a car," the report says.
After the incident, the bank tightened security measures. Now customers are accompanied by employees and security guards in the vault. However, the affected depositors faced another problem - Deutsche Bank refuses to compensate for the losses.
"The question is not whether the bank made a mistake, but how this was even possible," lawyer Jurgen Hennemann, who represents dozens of the bank's affected customers, told reporters.
The perpetrators have not yet been found, and police are continuing their investigation. A Deutsche Bank representative declined to comment on the incident.
