Blood clots can be incredibly dangerous and can be fatal if not treated quickly. To save your life or the life of someone else, it's important to know the symptoms so you can take action.
There are several symptoms that may indicate the presence of a blood clot.

- Severe headache

A study of 47 patients by the Department of Neurology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurology, Bangalore, found that severe headaches could be an indicator of a blood clot.
Additionally, more research is needed to confirm that severe headache is an official symptom of blood clots. John Hopkins Medicine states that if you experience symptoms such as blurred vision, fainting, seizures and loss of control over a part of your body, you should seek immediate medical attention.
One of the most frequent symptoms of a blood clot is swelling of the legs. It occurs due to a clot that blocks blood flow. As a result, this causes the area around the clot to swell as blood cannot pass through.
Red spots, also known as petechiae, are another symptom that is indicated as a possible sign of a blood clot. Light bruising, although not a definite sign of a blood clot, can be a sign of another underlying disease.
Another frequent symptom of blood clots is shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
Other symptoms of a blood clot:
- Throbbing or cramping pain, swelling, redness, and warmth in the leg or arm.
- Sudden shortness of breath.
- Acute chest pain.
- Coughing or coughing up blood.
